More than a basket: What Goes Inside a Cancer Comfort Basket and Why?

People often ask what goes into our cancer comfort bags. I love that question, because each item has a reason for being there.

Why This Matters

Our current list includes a blanket, fuzzy socks, tea, a sleep mask, a crossword book, a journal, playing cards, a toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, hand sanitizer, unscented lotion and lip balm.

The Heart Behind It

Some items bring warmth and rest; others offer distraction during long waits. Personal-care items can be useful, but recipients should follow their care team’s guidance about products and herbal teas during treatment.

Moving Forward

The most important thing inside the bag cannot be bought: the message that someone is thinking of you.
