More than a basket: Checking in without asking for an update

A message can offer connection without asking someone to explain how everything is going.

You might send a simple thought: “You crossed my mind today. No need to answer. I just wanted you to know.”

If you know the person well, it might be a photograph of something they enjoy or a small memory you share. You can leave an invitation to talk while letting them decide whether they have the energy.

I think about how much of someone’s day can already involve answering questions. There is kindness in making a little space where they do not owe anyone news.

That is the spirit I want behind our comfort bags, too. A gesture of care with room for the recipient to receive it in their own way.

When you reach out, keep their preferences in mind. Let your message be something they can open without another task waiting inside it.
